Exhibition Design Frequently Asked Questions

  • I charge £40 per hour for 3D design work.

I can provide an estimate at the start of a job, based on the length of time I think I’ll need to accomplish everything you’ve told me in the design brief.

  • I’ll draft out a design from your brief, then produce full colour visuals and a plan, showing the design from all angles.

From here you’ll have the opportunity to provide feedback so that I can refine and finalise the design.

Once you’re happy with the design I’ll prepare technical drawings which can be used for detailed costings, and build.

  • It’s pretty tricky without any sort of brief.

I’ve created a design briefing template, which you can download here. This should help you put together a simple exhibition design brief.

  • I’ll advise on turnaround times on a brief by brief basis.

I try to get initial designs and visuals done within ten days of starting any job, but please be aware it can sometimes be longer, depending on the size of the stand, and my workload at the time.

  • I use Cinema 4D with Redshift for all my visuals, and Vectorworks for technical drawings.

  • If an NDA indefinitely prevents me from sharing the designs I’ve created, then I’m highly unlikely to sign it. I’ve signed them in the past, and regretted it!

I love to show off the work I’ve done on my website and social media channels; it keeps my porfolio fresh and it's how new clients find me!

If your project is subject to a strict NDA for legal reasons (such as regulations surrounding the promotion of pharmaceutical products) then these projects will remain confidential and will instead be quoted at an increased design rate.

(The Intellectual Property Act 2014 states that self employed designers owns rights to anything they create, even if they are commissioned by someone else to create the work)

  • Yes, I have a design agreement that covers a few important points to keep things clear and straightforward. It includes:

    • What we both agree to do.

    • The design process, including how changes and revisions are handled.

    • Payment terms and deadlines.

    • How I handle copyright and sharing work in my portfolio.

You can check out the full agreement here.
